Privacy
Last updated: August 2026
This is a personal site, and this policy is written to be genuinely useful rather than legal boilerplate no one reads. If something here is unclear, reach out and I’ll clarify or fix it.
What data gets collected
This site uses Google Site Kit (which includes Google Analytics) to understand basic traffic patterns — which posts get read, roughly how visitors arrive, and general engagement. This involves standard analytics cookies and collects information like your approximate location (city/region level, not precise), device and browser type, pages visited, and time spent on the site. I don’t collect names, emails, or any personal information through analytics unless you provide it directly (for example, through the contact form).
Why it’s collected
Purely to understand what’s worth writing more of and what isn’t landing. I don’t sell data, share it with third parties beyond Google’s standard analytics processing, or use it for advertising targeting on this site.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions. You can block or delete these through your browser settings at any time, and the site will continue to work normally without them.
Data retention
Analytics data is retained according to Google’s default retention settings for Google Analytics 4 properties, which you can review directly in Google’s own documentation.
Your choices
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all sites using Google’s official browser opt-out tool, or use browser privacy settings / extensions that block analytics scripts.
If you’re in California (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion of personal information, and opt out of the sale of personal information. This site does not sell personal information. If you’d like to know what data (if any) is associated with you or want it deleted, contact me and I’ll handle it directly — there’s no automated request system because the scale of this site doesn’t warrant one, but I’ll respond personally.
If you’re in the EU (GDPR)
The same principles apply: I collect the minimum data needed to run analytics on this site, I don’t sell it, and you can request access, correction, or deletion by contacting me directly.
